Today marks the official launch of Abovo 2.0 – on the NEW domain ABOVO.co

We explain our name and the decision to use the Abovo42.com domain for our 1.0 release in this September 2015 Blog post: https://www.abovo42.com/blog@abovo42.com/43238

Earlier in 2018 – years after we launched Abovo 1.0 – we acquired the domain: ABOVO.co

We consider this domain superior for users because it has 3 less characters than Abovo42.com and it does not require new users to remember the digits “42” (even though we STILL believe that 42 is the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything. ;-)

Thus, we are porting the Abovo42.com website and content at our new, great, and simpler domain: ABOVO.co

We will transform the original Abovo42.com website into a Corporate website, with standard info about our company “Abovo42 Corporation” – feel free to check it out – but the new Abovo 2.0 consumer tech and content will be on the new ABOVO.co domain.

Abovo 2.0 – Abovo Groups™ – Back-story

Abovo 1.0 was officially launched 3-years ago today – September 26, 2015 – on the original domain Abovo42.com. We characterized the original Abovo 1.0 as “a breakthrough consumer technology that will change how Internet-users create, post, publish, distribute, and share content and media online forever.”

Basically, our 1.0 technology made publishing a page of content on the Internet as simple as sending or forwarding any email.

Less than 1% of Internet users currently know how to publish a page of content on the Internet – believe it or not, even in 2018 it is STILL quite complicated and intimidating – but nearly 100% of Internet users know how to create, send, and forward an email. Thus, our original Abovo 1.0 technology potentially enables ~99% of the world’s Internet users to instantly become an Internet publisher. Like a Super-simple Blog for your Email. Powerful stuff. :-O

We immediately began observing how our early users were using our new technology and then began documenting various use cases of the original Abovo 1.0 technology on our Abovo Blog:

• Site Visitors: Consume Unique Content + Subscribe
• Post New Content --> Super-simple Blogging
• Post New Content --> Ad Hoc Photo Album
• Post New Content --> Share
• Post New Content --> Ranting
• Etc.

One use of our original technology that we had not predicted was the formation of mini Email Groups by copying or CC’ing other people’s email address IN ADDITION to the Post@Abovo42.com Email address. The other people copied on the Email would sometimes Reply-to-All (which would still include the Post@Abovo42.com Email address), thus the Reply email would also be published on the Abovo42.com website in addition the original Post Email from the original sender. Often, the Reply-to-All cycle would continue with the human recipients Replying-to-All and each simultaneously posting their respective Reply on the Abovo42.com website, while also automatically forming a mini online community around that particular Email thread.

This simple but powerful use case was the genesis of the idea for Abovo 2.0 – Abovo Groups™

Abovo 2.0 – Abovo Groups™ -- How it Works – NEW Groups

With today’s launch of Abovo 2.0, Abovo users may simply create an online community around a topic of interest by simply sending or forwarding any Email to [Insert-the-name-of-the-NEW-Group-here]@abovo.co

Users that create new Abovo Groups™ are considered the “Founder” of their respective Group and are also the default Moderator of the new Group. Group Moderators are responsible for contributing to and… well… “moderating” their Group. Moderators automatically receive a notification Email with every new Post to the Group that they are moderating and can:

1. “Allow” the Post and the new user (this is the default – no action required)
   
   
2. “Delete” the Post with one click, or
   
   
3. “Block” a user’s email address from the Group with one click

Posts to the Group will be published and archived on the public Internet at:
http://[Insert-the-name-of-the-NEW-Group-here].abovo.co

You may invite other users to participate in your Group simply by copying or CC’ing their email address in the same email that is addressed to [Insert-the-name-of-the-NEW-Group-here]@abovo.co

Users are limited to one Group created per unique email address to avoid hoarding popular Group names like some Internet users have done in the past with domain names, Twitter handles, etc.

Abovo 2.0 – Abovo Groups™ -- How it Works – EXISTING Groups

Users may also join and participate in EXISTING Groups that have already been created by simply sending or forwarding any Email to [Insert-the-name-of-the-EXISTING-Group-here]@abovo.co

Moderators of the EXISTING Group will be notified of the new Post by the new user and be allowed the opportunity to moderate the content and also the user’s email address. This will allow Groups to flourish and prosper with new users interested in the topic of the Group (i.e. Group Name) and content to be contributed related to that shared topic of interest.

Users that Post to an EXISTING Group (and are not blocked by the Moderator) are automatically Subscribed to the Group and will receive an Email notification anytime something new is posted to the Group by other Group members. Notifications can optionally be set to a daily digest (collection of all new posts in the last 24-hours) or turned off altogether.

We believe that Abovo Groups represents the simplest way to create or participate in online communities gathered around a shared topic of interest – all via Email. And just like the original Abovo technology, users are not required to register, sign up, download an app, or learn to do anything new beyond what most people do many times each day already – simply send/forward or click on an email. :-)
